Contact Annapolis Café Sci Coordinator Tracy Gill at annapoliscafesci@gmail.com \nAbout the August Café: Is it safe to swim and fish in the Severn River? Are there pollution hot spots? Has water quality improved since last year? What still needs to be done? Dr. Muller will answer present the State of the Severn River and answer these questions\, based on water monitoring data collected by a remotely controlled submarine and other data collection tools. Dr. Muller will also discuss what’s needed to keep our river healthy so we all can enjoy and take care of the Severn. \nAbout the Speaker: Dr. Muller is an Associate Professor of Oceanography at the Naval Academy. He holds a B.S. in Geology from Adelphi University and a Masters and Ph\,D. in Oceanography from Old Dominion University. Dr. Muller specializes in estuarine and coastal dynamics. DESCRIPTION:Chris is a woodwind player based in the Baltimore/Washington DC area. Currently finishing his graduate degree at Towson University\, where he studies with Dave Ballou\, Jim McFalls\, Darryl Brenzel\, Frank Russo\, Jeff Reed and Tim Murphy. Chris had led groups that have performed at the Takoma Park Jazz Festival\, and has performed as a sideman at the many of the notable venues in the Baltimore/DC area. He has performed along side internationally recognized musicians such as Ellery Eskelin\, Mary Halvorson\, Matt Wilson\, Drew Gress\, and participated in clinics led by Donny McCaslin\, Jeff Lederer\, Dave Liebman\, and Tom Rainey. Chris performs with local groups such as Stimulus Package\, the Charles Eron Quartet\, and the Jon Seligman Trio. \nDerek Wiegmann is a bassist living and working in Baltimore\, MD. He is currently finishing a Bachelor of Music Degree in Jazz/Commercial performance at Towson University. Derek was selected to perform with the 2015 Mid Atlantic Collegiate Jazz orchestra under the direction of trumpeter Sean Jones at Dizzy’s Club Coca Cola at Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City. Through the jazz residency program at Towson\, he has participated in masterclasses with and performed with artists such as Drew Gress\, Ralph Alessi\, Ellery Eskelin\, Donny McCaslin\, and Mary Halvorson. In addition to his jazz studies\, Derek plays principal bass in Towson’s Orchestra and has performed in various chamber ensembles. In spring of 2015\, he played in a professional pit orchestra for a production of Randall Thompson’s Solomon and Balkis as part of an American Opera Symposium hosted at Towson University. \nAndrew Young is a drummer living and working around Baltimore\, MD. Currently in his last year finishing a Bachelor of Music Degree in Jazz/Commercial Performance\, Andrew studies with a variety of musicians\, such as Frank Russo\, Michelle Humphreys\, Jon Seligman\, Jeff Reed\, Jim McFalls\, and Tony Malaby. In addition to his freelance work\, Andrew plays in multiple groups\, such as Primordial Sound\, Chris Young Trio\, and Derrick Michaels and Friends.
