Formerly\, Professor of Agricultural Economics at Purdue\, and on staff of Operations Evaluation Department of the World Bank. \n“A wicked problem is a problem that is difficult or impossible to solve because of incomplete\, contradictory\, and changing requirements that are often difficult to recognize.” No wonder progress is slow: • Only 18% of us are well informed and concerned • We have too many environmental organizations • Scientists are reluctant to pontificate on “policy” • Change is slow and we feel we can live with it • There is no reward for individual activism • Our leaders claim to be making progress; •Activists have not done the math; •Short-term problems take precedence. \n
