DESCRIPTION:Annapolis Acoustic Jam: A Round-Robin Jam for songs of every age and genre. All acoustic stringed instruments\, harmonicas\, flutes & whistles are welcome. We do have limits on our sound levels in the back room as we share the venue with live entertainment in the front room. If you want to learn to play in a group this jam is for you. DESCRIPTION:Come on down to 49west – Larry and i’ll be singing & playing and hanging out in one of our favorite local places.. there is all kinds of good stuff going there besides this music we’re promoting. amazing artwork\, food and drinks\, people. No cover\, just walk on in\, seat yourself. – we’re in the front room. \nJenn Byrne is the foundation of the group\, playing the upright bass\, and doing the Lion’s share of the singing. Jenn has an enigmatic and versitile voice\, which is capable of a wide variety of styles. In addition to The Befuddlers Jenn can be seen around town with her other group\, the Hypnotic Panties. She also has a band with her brother Jeremy\, and father Pete which is called Crosstown. \nLarry Byrne is a multi-instumentalist and singer\, and lays down the rhythm on acoustic guitar with The Befuddlers. Larry sits on the board of AMFM\, a charity organization for musicians based in Annapolis. He can be seen playing with many local groups at AMFM fundraisers. Larry also plays with the local funk group\, Higher Hands\, playing the keyboards and supplying left hand bass. He also loves to join the Hypnotic Panties whenever possible! \nPete Reichwein is the father of Jenn\, and the Dobro player in the group. Pete has been a fixture in the Bluegrass community for decades\, but is also an extremely diverse musician with a good knowledge of many different styles of music.\nNo Cover Charge

Previewing pieces from his upcoming album Stringwise\,he’ll appear with leading Venezuelan musicians\, cuatro player Jorge Glem and percussionist Francisco Vielma.   \n  \nSampling sounds from the new recording\, listeners will enjoy new twists on the familiar. The set list includes Duke Ellington’s “Take the A Train\,” David Forster’s “After the Love Has Gone\,” and Sting’s “Englishman in New York.” Stevie Wonder’s “Isn’t She Lovely” and traditional Venezuelan folk pieces round out the program. \n  \nA prolific composer and arranger\, Orozco is known for fusing jazz with Cuban and Venezuelan musical styles in unexpected and irresistible ways. Born in Cuba in 1980\, he moved to Venezuela in 1998\, and to the U.S. in 2012. He has worked with acclaimed international artists such as Paquito D’Rivera\, Pedrito Martinez\, Gary Thomas\, Yosvany Terry\, Luisito Quintero and Giovanni Hidalgo. He holds a graduate performance degree (GPD) from the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University in jazz piano and a degree in violin performance and ensemble conducting from the National School of Arts in Havana. He is a Jazz Beyond Borders performing\, touring and teaching artist.  \n  \nOrozco has been a guest artist on more than 50 recordings and recorded three albums as a leader\, including Son Con Pajarillo  (2007) and Orozcojam (2010). The latter was awarded Best Vocal-Instrumental Album at Cubadisco 2012 (similar to the Grammy Awards in the U.S). No Limits for Tumbao was released to rave reviews in 2015.  \nHe has performed in many countries and in this region\, he has appeared at major venues such as Blues Alley\, the Kennedy Center\, Twins Jazz\, and An die Musik Live. \n  \nJorge Glem is a master of the cuatro\, a ukulele-like guitar considered the national instrument of Venezuela. Glem is winner of several prestigious awards. In 2004\, he was named Best Cuatro Player at the International Festival of Musica Llanera “El Silbon de Oro” and second place at the International Festival and contest “Siembra del Cuatro.” In 2014\, his third album\, En el Cerrito\, won the Pepsi Music Award for traditional Venezuelan instrumental music. His album \,Pa’ Fuera\, with C4Trio was nominated for a Latin Grammy in 2017 for Best Latin Rock\, Urban or Alternative Album. He has shared the stage with great such as Paquito D’Rivera\, Rubén Blades\, and Etienne Charles.  \n  \nFran Vielma is a Venezuelan multi-percussionist with an extensive knowledge of Caribbean and South American rhythms. A composer\, arranger and educator\, his career involves recording\, tours\, and festivals with renowned musicians in Venezuela\, Mexico\, South Korea\, the Republic of Panama\, Australia and the U.S. \n  \nVielma holds a M.M. in jazz studies from New England Conservatory\, and a B.M. in performance and theory from Berklee College of Music\, two. As adjunct faculty of World Music at Salem State University’s Music Department in Massachusetts\, he stays current with research on world music. He has taught music seminars\, lectures\, and master-classes at leading universities in the U.S. and Venezuela. \n  \nFran Vielma’s recent release Tendencias with his Venezuelan Jazz Collective features some of the world’s most important players such as Luis Perdomo\, Michael Rodriguez\, and Miguel Zenón. He also leads the Venezuelan Jazz Orchestra and the Hidden Treasure Percussion Trio. \n  \n49 West Coffeehouse\, Wine Bar & Gallery is located in Historic Annapolis.
