DESCRIPTION:Annapolis Acoustic Jam: A Round-Robin Jam for songs of every age and genre. All acoustic stringed instruments\, harmonicas\, flutes & whistles are welcome. We do have limits on our sound levels in the back room as we share the venue with live entertainment in the front room. If you want to learn to play in a group this jam is for you. DESCRIPTION:  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \nCome on down to 49west – Larry and i’ll be singing & playing and hanging out in one of our favorite local places.. there is all kinds of good stuff going there besides this music we’re promoting. amazing artwork\, food and drinks\, people. No cover\, just walk on in\, seat yourself. – we’re in the front room. \nJenn Byrne is the foundation of the group\, playing the upright bass\, and doing the Lion’s share of the singing. Jenn has an enigmatic and versitile voice\, which is capable of a wide variety of styles. In addition to The Befuddlers Jenn can be seen around town with her other group\, the Hypnotic Panties. She also has a band with her brother Jeremy\, and father Pete which is called Crosstown. \nLarry Byrne is a multi-instumentalist and singer\, and lays down the rhythm on acoustic guitar with The Befuddlers. Larry sits on the board of AMFM\, a charity organization for musicians based in Annapolis. He can be seen playing with many local groups at AMFM fundraisers. Larry also plays with the local funk group\, Higher Hands\, playing the keyboards and supplying left hand bass. He also loves to join the Hypnotic Panties whenever possible! \nPete Reichwein is the father of Jenn\, and the Dobro player in the group. Pete has been a fixture in the Bluegrass community for decades\, but is also an extremely diverse musician with a good knowledge of many different styles of music.\nNo Cover Charge

SUMMARY:Sunday Supper & Jazz with Richard Miller Trio
DESCRIPTION:Direct from NYC & Rio – guitar based trio! \norn and raised in Rio de Janeiro\, Richard’s recent credits include Musical Director for Olivério: a Brazilian Twist at the Kennedy Center\, 2016; Pope Francis\, September 2015; National Endowment for the Arts Heritage Awards at Strathmore Hall\, 2013; President Obama\, White House\, 2009; concerts and workshops at University of Florida\, Middlebury College\, Georgetown University\, Virginia Commonwealth University\, UPenn\, College of Charleston\, Texas Southern University\, among many others; performances at Merkin Hall\, BB Kings\, Iridium\, DROM\, and many other venues in New York City. A review of his US State Department recital asserted that Richard\, “not only displayed impeccable technique but communicated his love of music.” A review in the Washington City Paper by Joel Siegal of the duo of Richard Miller with Patrick de Santos (voice) stated\, “Patrick and Richard strike a remarkable balance between disciplined technique and emotional abandon.” With a Master’s in performance from Manhattan School of Music and a Ph.D. in music theory\, Richard is also active as an educator\, writer\, and composer and teaches at Columbia University. Richard Miller earned a Ph. D. in music theory from Catholic University of America and a Masters in guitar performance from Manhattan School of Music. He currently teaches music theory and ear training at Columbia University and is the Director of Education Programs for the Afro-Latin Jazz Alliance. Lambert Academic Publishing recently published his dissertation\, “The Guitar in the Brazilian Choro.” A long-time practitioner of yoga and surfing\, Richard created the Balanced Guitar retreat to enable students to learn a holistic lifestyle that will ensure many years of healthy and creative guitar playing. The guitar/yoga/surfing retreat takes place in Costa Rica in January (www.balancedguitar.com).
