DESCRIPTION:Led by drummer Steve Fidyk\, The Parlour Project is a new ensemble that trends on performing original improvisational music. Fidyk has earned national and international acclaim as a performer\, author\, and educator. He is a member of The Army Blues Big Band\, the Jazz Studies faculty at Temple University\, Philadelphia\, PA.\, and a contributing columnist for Modern Drummer Magazine. He has performed and recorded with Wayne Bergeron\, John Clayton\, Wycliffe Gordon\, Tim Hagans\, Slide Hampton\, Maureen McGovern\, James Moody\, New York Voices\, Dick Oates\, Arturo Sandoval\, Doc Severinsen\, Terell Stafford\, Tim Warfield\, and Bill Watrous. On tour with Maureen McGovern\, Fidyk has performed with orchestras throughout the country\, including The Cincinnati Pops\, Spokane Symphony\, Nashville Symphony\, Plano Symphony\, The Baltimore Symphony\, The Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra\, and the Jerry Lewis MDA Labor Day Telethon. His discography as a leader/co-leader includes: Big Kids (U.S. Roots)\, A Perfect Match (Write Groove)\, and Live at Blues Alley (OA2). Fidyk can also be heard on over 100 recordings as a contributing artist.

Both of the Steve’s play arch top electric guitar – Both are terrific performers and also renowned music educators in this region. One compliments the other… It’s just a joy to watch and listen to them pour through the Great American Songbook of jazz favorites. Their CD entitled “Just Friends” will be on sale as well and you can pick up another great autograph of a jazz celebrity in Annapolis! Abshire was the guitar chair of the famous US Navy Commodores for over 20 years\, played often with Charlie and Joe Byrd. Herberman came a little later and played with Joe Byrd\, so both of these guys are our “friends” and love to play in Annapolis! Their focus has always been to compose and perform their own original music within the jazz idiom\, honoring the masters by carrying on the tradition. Be it through blues\, swing\, bebop\, soul jazz\, or more modern funk and groove\, the group has developed an incredible and unique sound by merging the diverse backgrounds of each of these fine musicians into one voice. The result is a whirlwind of grooves\, melodies\, and diverse textures that are a true delight to hear. Collectively\, the members of the Shook/Russo 5tet have performed extensively throughout the United States\, as well as performed in Canada\, Mexico\, Asia\, Europe\, and the Caribbean and at festivals such as the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival\, the Ottawa Jazz Festival\, the Stan Getz Jazz Festival\, the East Coast Jazz Festival\, the Vancouver International Jazz Festival\, and the Telluride Jazz Festival\, the Wall Street Jazz Festival and the Mid-Atlantic Jazz Festival to name a few. They currently have two CDs out on Summit Records\, and will be releasing a new album later this year\, featuring all new music by members of the band. \n

No cover\, just walk on in\, seat yourself. – we’re in the front room. \nJenn Byrne is the foundation of the group\, playing the upright bass\, and doing the Lion’s share of the singing. Jenn has an enigmatic and versitile voice\, which is capable of a wide variety of styles. In addition to The Befuddlers Jenn can be seen around town with her other group\, the Hypnotic Panties. She also has a band with her brother Jeremy\, and father Pete which is called Crosstown. \nLarry Byrne is a multi-instumentalist and singer\, and lays down the rhythm on acoustic guitar with The Befuddlers. Larry sits on the board of AMFM\, a charity organization for musicians based in Annapolis. He can be seen playing with many local groups at AMFM fundraisers. Larry also plays with the local funk group\, Higher Hands\, playing the keyboards and supplying left hand bass. He also loves to join the Hypnotic Panties whenever possible! \nPete Reichwein is the father of Jenn\, and the Dobro player in the group. Pete has been a fixture in the Bluegrass community for decades\, but is also an extremely diverse musician with a good knowledge of many different styles of music.\nNo Cover Charge

Be it through blues\, swing\, bebop\, soul jazz\, or more modern funk and groove\, the group has developed an incredible and unique sound by merging the diverse backgrounds of each of these fine musicians into one voice. The result is a whirlwind of grooves\, melodies\, and diverse textures that are a true delight to hear. Collectively\, the members of the Shook/Russo 5tet have performed extensively throughout the United States\, as well as performed in Canada\, Mexico\, Asia\, Europe\, and the Caribbean and at festivals such as the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival\, the Ottawa Jazz Festival\, the Stan Getz Jazz Festival\, the East Coast Jazz Festival\, the Vancouver International Jazz Festival\, and the Telluride Jazz Festival\, the Wall Street Jazz Festival and the Mid-Atlantic Jazz Festival to name a few. They currently have two CDs out on Summit Records\, and will be releasing a new album later this year\, featuring all new music by members of the band. \n
