Their focus has always been to compose and perform their own original music within the jazz idiom\, honoring the masters by carrying on the tradition. Be it through blues\, swing\, bebop\, soul jazz\, or more modern funk and groove\, the group has developed an incredible and unique sound by merging the diverse backgrounds of each of these fine musicians into one voice. The result is a whirlwind of grooves\, melodies\, and diverse textures that are a true delight to hear. Collectively\, the members of the Shook/Russo 5tet have performed extensively throughout the United States\, as well as performed in Canada\, Mexico\, Asia\, Europe\, and the Caribbean and at festivals such as the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival\, the Ottawa Jazz Festival\, the Stan Getz Jazz Festival\, the East Coast Jazz Festival\, the Vancouver International Jazz Festival\, and the Telluride Jazz Festival\, the Wall Street Jazz Festival and the Mid-Atlantic Jazz Festival to name a few. They currently have two CDs out on Summit Records\, and will be releasing a new album later this year\, featuring all new music by members of the band. \n

What Caolaidhe didn’t know was that he was auditioning his future wife. Fast-forward a few months down the road\, and Meghan and Caolaidhe found themselves living on ’19th Street’ in Arlington\, VA\, writing songs and creating the sound that would become the backbone of The 19th Street Band. \nWith a chemistry and stage presence similar to Johnny & June\, they captivate audiences just by being themselves\, having fun and keeping it real while making sweet\, simple rock and roll. Their focus has always been to compose and perform their own original music within the jazz idiom\, honoring the masters by carrying on the tradition. Be it through blues\, swing\, bebop\, soul jazz\, or more modern funk and groove\, the group has developed an incredible and unique sound by merging the diverse backgrounds of each of these fine musicians into one voice. The result is a whirlwind of grooves\, melodies\, and diverse textures that are a true delight to hear. Collectively\, the members of the Shook/Russo 5tet have performed extensively throughout the United States\, as well as performed in Canada\, Mexico\, Asia\, Europe\, and the Caribbean and at festivals such as the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival\, the Ottawa Jazz Festival\, the Stan Getz Jazz Festival\, the East Coast Jazz Festival\, the Vancouver International Jazz Festival\, and the Telluride Jazz Festival\, the Wall Street Jazz Festival and the Mid-Atlantic Jazz Festival to name a few. They currently have two CDs out on Summit Records\, and will be releasing a new album later this year\, featuring all new music by members of the band. \n

DESCRIPTION:Led by drummer Steve Fidyk\, The Parlour Project is a new ensemble that trends on performing original improvisational music. Fidyk has earned national and international acclaim as a performer\, author\, and educator. He is a member of The Army Blues Big Band\, the Jazz Studies faculty at Temple University\, Philadelphia\, PA.\, and a contributing columnist for Modern Drummer Magazine. He has performed and recorded with Wayne Bergeron\, John Clayton\, Wycliffe Gordon\, Tim Hagans\, Slide Hampton\, Maureen McGovern\, James Moody\, New York Voices\, Dick Oates\, Arturo Sandoval\, Doc Severinsen\, Terell Stafford\, Tim Warfield\, and Bill Watrous. On tour with Maureen McGovern\, Fidyk has performed with orchestras throughout the country\, including The Cincinnati Pops\, Spokane Symphony\, Nashville Symphony\, Plano Symphony\, The Baltimore Symphony\, The Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra\, and the Jerry Lewis MDA Labor Day Telethon. His discography as a leader/co-leader includes: Big Kids (U.S. Roots)\, A Perfect Match (Write Groove)\, and Live at Blues Alley (OA2). Fidyk can also be heard on over 100 recordings as a contributing artist.
