SUMMARY:Kings of Crownsville
DESCRIPTION:Annapolis-based act Kings of Crownsville are a roots Rock band with a New Orleans flavor. \nThe brainchild of New Orleans-raised guitarist/singer/songwriter Steve Johnson\, the Kings play a rollicking\, entertaining set that stirs Americana\, Blues\, and Jazz \ninto their mix of Johnson’s witty original tunes as well as a few well-chosen covers with a hint of Louisiana spice. \nTheir signature horn section transports listeners to the streets of the Big Easy\, while they also add precise three- and four-part harmonies to their musical gumbo. \nThink Louis Armstrong meets Steely Dan. \nThe Kings of Crownsville features Johnson backed by Ed Justice on trumpet\, flugelhorn and vocals; Jim Tavener on trombone\, percussion\, and vocals; Mike McCormick on keyboards and vocals; David Vermette on bass and vocals; and Rob Creath behind the drums. \n“Homegrown Americana boogie blues and big band rockin’ swing jazz is a chunky description of the Kings … a robust\, polished sound that makes for easy toe-tapping and dancing.” \nStephen Perraud. The Live Wire. June 2011

SUMMARY:Sunday Supper & Jazz with Susan Mooring & Steve Abshire
DESCRIPTION:  \nSunday Supper Jazz Series with Susan Mooring & Steve Abshire \nMay 20\, 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm \n$20 \nElegant jazz standards\, blues\, and a few surprises are in store from this duo.  Singer/songwriter Susan Mooring lends her smooth contralto to sultry ballads and bossas\, but she can swing\, too.  She is accompanied by renowned guitarist Steve Abshire\, longtime 49 West favorite. \nSusan began her singing career at clubs in and around Boston. She became a fixture of the jazz scene in Portsmouth\, NH\, then in Richmond\, VA\, where she soloed with the Richmond Philharmonic. SUMMARY:Itzall Good Music Singer Songwriter Series Featuring Nalani & Sarina & Linda Nelson
DESCRIPTION:The Itzall Goode Music Presents singer/songwriter series returns to 49 West Coffeehouse in Annapolis\, MD on Monday\,May 21!\nHosted by Eric Scott. \nFeaturing Nalani & Sarina www.nalanisarina.com/\nwith special guests\nLinda Nelson www.lindanelsonmusic.com/index.html\nEric Scott www\,ericscottmusic.com \nAdmission only $10.00 (to the artists).\nCall for reservations (recommended) at 410-626-9796\nor just show up! \n49 West Coffeehouse – 49 West St. – Annapolis\, MD \nBIos:\nGetting music fans to agree on anything is next to impossible. That’s why the quick rise to national recognition of identical twin sisters Nalani & Sarina is such an astounding story. These two audacious young artists\, from west-central New Jersey\, have developed a distinctive blend of traditionalist soul-rock and modern pop likely to keep their faces in the spotlight for years to come. Legendary music critic/Sirius radio host Dave Marsh called their EP\, Scattered World\, “some of the best music being made”\, and fans\, critics and taste-makers have echoed his praise. Nalani & Sarina have all the elements in place for success and stardom. Their captivating look is on display in the video for “Get Away”\, a propulsive cut from Scattered World\, that was in regular rotation on mtvU and other video outlets. Their smart\, kinetic live show\, whether as a duo or with their band\, has made the sisters favorites on the Northeastern club scene. They’ve earned the enthusiasm of industry insiders as well\, with their newest offerings to be released on Kobalt Music’s worldwide digital distribution network in early 2018. In a music landscape largely bereft of Asian-American voices\, the twin sisters’ perspective is welcome. Their songs are catchy AND meaningful\, their look is dazzling\, their message is courageous\, and the sky is the limit.\n______________________________________________________\nLinda Nelson is a singer/songwriter with soft and soulful southern accent. She was born and raised the fifth of seven kids in Baltimore County\, a rural area as close to the Mason Dixon Line as it is to the city of the same name. “My folks are from Alabama (dad) and Memphis (mom). \nBefore Linda was born her father\, Andy Nelson\, was a star player with the Johnny Unitas led championship Baltimore Colts (1957-1964). (In fact\, Johnny U. and Andy Nelson roomed together.) Those same qualities of talent\, dedication\, teamwork and success have clearly migrated from parents to daughter. \nLinda started playing guitar when she was just a teenager. “I had been writing songs on the lane to the mailbox\, so when I got a guitar I just started writing songs all the time\,” she remembers. Her first inauspicious public performance was at a Tupperware party. In high school things got a bit more ambitious when Linda answered a City Paper ad for a singer (“no Emmylou look-a-likes!”) and won the job with a band of Hopkins students called the Zumbuzie Warriors. Her second gig with the Warriors was on TV at the Hopkins Fair. “(I was) shaking in my boots\,” she painfully remembers. \nThe band gig morphed into a smaller\, perhaps more manageable act called the Rising Sun trio with Doug Boardman and Craig Muller. But soon the young musician caught the traveling bug and moved down to the beaches along the Outer Banks of Carolina\, and then on to St. Croix in the Virgin Islands where she played solo gigs in the sun. After some tough breaks and inner turmoil took hold\, Linda’s musical career lay dormant for about six years.\n______________________________________________________\nWashington\, D.C. area musician Eric Scott has to date enjoyed a varied and interesting musical journey. As a touring bassist and vocalist\, Scott has performed on numerous stages throughout Europe\, Canada\, the Caribbean Islands\, Central America\, and the entire United States. While building his reputation as one of the area’s most sought after sidemen & session players\, Scott wrote and released three solo records\, DIVINE STATIC (1999)\, LET’S HEAR IT FOR THE FOOLS (2002)\, and RED (2007)\, to critical acclaim. \nThe journey continues with Scott’s fourth release WHERE THE WATER RUNS DEEPEST (May 2012) on the Itzall Goode Music label (Indie). DEEPEST further explores the neo-soul\, funk\, and pop influences of RED…but Scott’s sound continues to evolve. It is no less confessional than RED…maybe even more so…and is even more personal and intimate with it’s stripped down production and arrangements. While the performances are first rate\, this release is all about the songs and the voice; and they are wrapped in a sheerer\, warmer\, acoustic package.
