SUMMARY:Darius Scott & Resolution Trio
DESCRIPTION:Darius Scott:\nBorn in Ithaca\, New York\, pianist/composer Darius Scott grew up in Boston and has been living in Baltimore since 1983.  Both of his parents enjoyed music\, especially jazz.  As a toddler\, they used to take him to The Jazz Workshop to hear the legends playing and inventing the style of music he would eventually learn to play as well.  At one point during that time\, he even sat on a piano bench next to Thelonious Monk.\nDarius didn’t begin trying to play piano until he was an engineering student and athlete in college. When an injury sidelined him from soccer for a season\, he signed up for a “keyboard awareness” class and through a friend\, discovered the ragtime piano music of Scott Joplin. Darius memorized several of Joplin’s rags and although he often played them repeatedly to the most accommodating of his family\, friends and associates\, (often until they could no longer stand it)\, Darius found Joplin’s music  to be so enjoyable and intricate that it occupied him for several years.  During that period\, he developed an interest in learning more about the piano and jazz music.

We’re giving away a guitar every 90 days! \nHow do I sign up to perform at Open Mic Sundays?\nA sign-up sheet will be at the venue where you can sign up to perform. Please write down any special requests or ask the sound engineer if you have any questions or special needs. \nHow long or many songs can I/we play?\nAt this time\, we’re offering each performer a 10-minute set (two long songs\, or three short songs) and few minutes for setup. You may sign up a second time once you have performed. \nWhat equipment is provided at Open Mic Sundays?\nA PA\, Mics\, Stands\, A Cajon\, and a Breedlove Guitar. \nWhat should I bring to perform at Open Mic Sundays?\nAll performers should bring their primary instrument to perform I.E. Guitar players should bring their guitar (and amp if applicable). \nWhat shouldn’t I bring?\nDue to the intimate setting of this venue\, we do not recommend bringing a full drum kit or obnoxiously loud instruments. Recorded at the famed Bennett Studios in NJ and featuring modern horn great Donny McCaslin\, they explore mostly the unique musical approach of the pianist\, Alan Blackman. His originals occupy almost half of the musical ground here\, and they are varied in scope and interesting from both a rhythmic and harmonic vantage point. From the almost middle eastern opening version of a Brahms Waltz through the groovy standard (with some nice new chords) I’ve Never Been in Love to a 9/4 fender rhodes inflected tour de force on You’ve Changed\, this band is tight and the solos are at a very accomplished and individual level. Highly recommended if you are tired of boring smooth jazz and bored with tired traditional swing. CD Baby

Beth’s music is soulful\, organic\, intelligent\, barefoot\, high-energy communication of joy. \nIn February of 1997\, Beth quit her day job and moved to Brevard\, NC to pursue a life in music. Beth has been touring non-stop\, writing songs\, creating albums\, collaborating\, performing\, and teaching ever since. Beth recently launched 20/20\, a celebration of her twenty years as a full-time musician in which she will release twenty new works to subscribers and fans in 2017. \nBeth has been featured on “Troubadour\, TX”\, a nationally syndicated documentary-style singer-songwriter reality television series airing in almost 40 million households and 140 U.S. markets. In the past year alone\, he has shared the stage with heavyweights such as The Doobie Brothers\, The Pousette Dart Band\, Jimmy Lafave\, Martin Sexton\, 10\,000 Maniacs\, Red Molly\, John Haitt\, The New Riders of the Purple Sage\, The Buffalo Springfield\, Kevin Welch\, Lucy Kaplansky and Livingston Taylor. As a member of Chris Berardo and The DesBerardo Band with his brother Chris\, Marc has been a part of shows with classic rock acts including Little Feat\, The Marshall Tucker Band\, Foriegner\, Badfinger\, Reckless Kelly\, America\, David Allen Coe\, Levon Helm\, Dickey Betts and Great Southern and others. \nIn May of 2014\, Berardo won the 2014 Wildflower Art and Music Festival Song Contest in Texas. The following week he performed as a finalist in the legendary Kerrville New Folk Contest at the Kerrville Folk Festival. In early 2015\, Berardo’s interview and live performance feature on Sirius/ XM Satellite Radio’s The Village was voted one of the best of the year by listeners. Berardo was nominated as Best Americana Vocalist by readers of Motif Magazine in early 2017. \nWhen not playing his songs all over the place\, MDB lives in a heavily secluded and fortified compound on a river near the ocean in Westerly\, RI.
