No cover\, just walk on in\, seat yourself. – we’re in the front room. \nJenn Byrne is the foundation of the group\, playing the upright bass\, and doing the Lion’s share of the singing. Jenn has an enigmatic and versitile voice\, which is capable of a wide variety of styles. In addition to The Befuddlers Jenn can be seen around town with her other group\, the Hypnotic Panties. She also has a band with her brother Jeremy\, and father Pete which is called Crosstown. \nLarry Byrne is a multi-instumentalist and singer\, and lays down the rhythm on acoustic guitar with The Befuddlers. Larry sits on the board of AMFM\, a charity organization for musicians based in Annapolis. He can be seen playing with many local groups at AMFM fundraisers. Larry also plays with the local funk group\, Higher Hands\, playing the keyboards and supplying left hand bass. He also loves to join the Hypnotic Panties whenever possible! \nPete Reichwein is the father of Jenn\, and the Dobro player in the group. Pete has been a fixture in the Bluegrass community for decades\, but is also an extremely diverse musician with a good knowledge of many different styles of music.\nNo Cover Charge

DESCRIPTION:Chuck Underwood Trio brings their dynamic music to downtown Annapolis\, celebrating their latest record release “Pools”.\nAugust 22\, 2023: Red Door Records is proud to announce the release of Pools by the Chuck Underwood Trio. This dynamic ensemble is composed of Chuck Underwood (guitar)\, Mark Lysher (acoustic bass) and Byron McWilliams (drums). Underwood has been a staple of the D.C. music scene for many years\, has been a featured soloist with the National Symphony\, and worked with a wide range of artists from Lester Bowie to Patti Labelle. He and McWilliams have been playing together in various ensembles over the years\, including Monkey Paw and The Dixie Power Trio. The addition of Lysher on bass has taken the group’s exciting and interactive approach to improvisation to a whole new level. The album was recorded live in the studio with no fixes or edits. Underwood deftly combines rock-influenced tones and phrasing with world class jazz improvisation skills\, and Lysher and McWilliams are with him every step of the way. Highlights include Underwood’s “Southside” and “Voodoo\,” “Abacus” by Paul Motion\, and a gorgeous solo acoustic guitar version of Monk’s “Ask Me Now.” The album closes with “Perfect Square” a free-form group improvisation featuring Underwood’s “prepared” guitar making other worldly sounds with Lysher and McWilliams telepathically following his every move.
