The Antarctic\, on the other hand\, has gone from setting record maximum ice extents to record minimum ice extents. With the poles being harbingers of change these both portend changes for points equatorward as well as themselves. We’ll talk about some of those\, with polar questions of all sorts being very welcome. \nAbout the Speaker: Robert Grumbine earned a PhD in Geophysical Sciences from the University of Chicago in 1989. After a two-year ocean modeling postdoc at Penn State he started working in the NWS Environmental Modeling Center\, where he has been ever since. In that time\, his work has included observing sea ice and sea surface temperature\, modeling sea ice and coupling it to atmosphere and ocean forecast models and optimizing models by evolutionary methods. Bob earned a Bachelor of Science from Northwestern in School of Engineering in Applied Mathematics\, with Astrophysics as the area of application\, and modeling continental ice sheets and ice ages for his senior project. 2025 is the 40th anniversary of both graduation and publication of his first paper. Sarah has also composed music for VoiceTheatre’s 2012 production of Lovers and 2013 production of Birds on a Wire. \nGrowing up on a working farm in rural upstate New York\, she began playing fiddle when she was four\, and by nine\, she was leading her own band (around the same time she learned to drive a tractor). She joined the Adirondack Fiddlers at age seven and had the opportunity to learn firsthand a variety of fiddle tunes and styles common in NY from older generations of fiddlers who grew up playing local dances at grange halls and lumber camps. At age twelve\, she released her first cassette of traditional fiddle tunes\, Traditionally\, Sara. In June 2001\, Sara traveled to Mt.
