SUMMARY:The Johnny Monet Band & The McTell Brothers
DESCRIPTION:2 SHOWS 7:00pm & 9:30pm \nPLEASE CALL 410-626-9796 to make reservations because space is limited!!!! \nJohn Ebersberger (aka Johnny Monet) The McTell Brothers \nJohn Ebersberger\, artist and songwriter\, fronted local favorites Johnny Monet and the Impressionists in the 80s/90s. He’s back with a new line-up that includes Mark Ingino\, guitar; Don Ferrell\, bass and Roy Dunshee on drums. John’s love of early Springsteen\, soul music and rockabilly makes it’s way into his high energy originals. Prepare to Rock n’ Roll! \nThe McTell Brothers are 19 year old twins from Virginia who harmonize like angels and bring bluegrass virtuosity to their playing of both electric and acoustic guitars and mandolin. They started performing at the ripe age of 9 years old and have already played with and opened for some of the country’s top songwriters and guitarists from Nashville\, Austin\, New York and beyond – Nicole Atkins\, Elizabeth Cook\, The Black Lillies\, among others.

SUMMARY:Steve Fidyk & the Parlour project
DESCRIPTION:Known for his touch\, versatility and musical approach\, jazz drummer Steve Fidyk has earned national and in-\nternational acclaim as an artist\, author and columnist. With his second album as a bandleader\, aptly titled Allied\nForces (2016)\, Fidyk has gathered together a powerful lineup and has succeeded in pushing his hard hitting melodic\nmessage to the front lines. The musicians on the date include the amazing frontline contributions of tenor saxophon-\nist Doug Webb and alto saxophonist Joseph Henson\, alongside the crack rhythm section of guitarist Shawn Purcell\,\nand organist extraordinaire Brian Charette.\nFidyk’s father John Fidyk\, who played tenor saxophone with groups throughout North Eastern Pennsylvania\, began\ntaking him on gigs as a substitute drummer at the age of eight. Encouraged by his parents\, Fidyk pursued music\nthroughout high school\, and majored in music education at Wilkes University. He played drums in the big band under\nthe direction of Bob Wilbur and eventually Tom Heinze. It was at this time that he began to immerse himself in jazz\,\nlistening to the great big bands of Count Basie\, Duke Ellington\, Woody Herman\, Stan Kenton\, and Buddy Rich. Rich\nwas the first jazz drummer Fidyk saw perform live when he was eight years old\, and that experience left a lasting\nimpression.\nIn 1987\, after hearing Fidyk play with the Mansfield State College big band\, legendary jazz drummer Joe Morello\naccepted him as a student. Morello was instrumental in helping Steve with his technique\, sound production\,\ncoordination\, and overall approach to playing the instrument. Morello was also very influential in helping Fidyk develop his articulate teaching skills\, and he has been dedicated and committed to education ever since. Fidyk currently serves\non the jazz studies faculty at Temple University in Philadelphia\, Pennsylvania and as a consultant for Jazz at\nLincoln Center’s Essentially Ellington Program. He has also authored several drum method books and DVD’s for Mel\nBay and Alfred Publications. As a columnist\, Fidyk contributes regularly to Modern Drummer Magazine\, and\nTeaching Music Magazine.\nFidyk has appeared on over 100 recordings and his discography as a co-leader includes Big Kids with John DeSalme\n(U.S. Roots)\, and two records with The Taylor/Fidyk Big Band: A Perfect Match (Write Groove\, 2003) and Live at\nBlues Alley (OA2\, 2006). His debut as a bandleader was Heads Up! (Posi-Tone\, 2014) which featured Terell Stafford\nand Tim Warfield.\nFidyk has performed with Wayne Bergeron\, John Clayton\, Mark Taylor\, Wycliffe Gordon\, Tim Hagans\, Slide Hampton\,\nMaureen McGovern\, New York Voices\, Dick Oates\, Arturo Sandoval\, and Doc Severinsen. With Maureen McGovern\,\nhe has accompanied symphony orchestras throughout the country including The Cincinnati Pops\, Spokane Symphony\, Nashville Symphony\, Plano Symphony\, The Baltimore Symphony\, The Buffalo Philharmonic\, The Richmond Symphony\,\nand the Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon Big Band. \n  \n

SUMMARY:The Shook/Russo 5tet
DESCRIPTION:Amy Shook – acoustic bass\nPat Shook – tenor saxophone\nFrank Russo – drums\nTim Leahey – trumpet\nJonathan Epley – guitar \nThe Shook/Russo 5tet has been performing together since 2005 in the mid-Atlantic region. Their focus has always been to compose and perform their own original music within the jazz idiom\, honoring the masters by carrying on the tradition. Be it through blues\, swing\, bebop\, soul jazz\, or more modern funk and groove\, the group has developed an incredible and unique sound by merging the diverse backgrounds of each of these fine musicians into one voice. The result is a whirlwind of grooves\, melodies\, and diverse textures that are a true delight to hear. Collectively\, the members of the Shook/Russo 5tet have performed extensively throughout the United States\, as well as performed in Canada\, Mexico\, Asia\, Europe\, and the Caribbean and at festivals such as the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival\, the Ottawa Jazz Festival\, the Stan Getz Jazz Festival\, the East Coast Jazz Festival\, the Vancouver International Jazz Festival\, and the Telluride Jazz Festval\, the Wall Street Jazz Festival and the Mid-Atlantic Jazz Festival to name a few. They currently have two CDs out on Summit Records\, and will be releasing a new album later this year\, featuring all new music by members of the band.

DESCRIPTION:The MARS 4-tet\n” . . . .they ain’t your Grandma’s jazz band.” \n49 West is proud to welcome back eclectic jazz super group\, the MARS 4-tet. The band features acclaimed recording and performing artists bassist Max Murray\, saxophonist Jeff Antoniuk\, drummer Frank Russo and guitarist Donato Soveiro. \nAs a long time member of Afro Bop Alliance\, bassist Max Murray shared a Latin Grammy Award and a Grammy nomination for the 2008 album Caribbean Jazz Project with Dave Samuels. The Boston bred musician is a former U.S. Naval Academy Band member. \nSaxophonist Jeff Antoniuk has toured many continents since leaving Alberta\, Canada and is lauded for his heightened powers on the saxophone. Jazz Times praised his considerable chops while MusikReviews.com described his amazing saxophone playing. He is a recognized master of modern jazz\, hard bop and funk. \nDrummer Frank Russo enjoyed a long career with the U.S. Naval Academy Band\, and has since won critical praise for his work with many jazz greats. His recordings have gained recognition from Downbeat\, Jazz Times and Modern Drummer. He has performed at numerous jazz festivals in North America\, Asia\, and Europe. \nGuitarist Donato Soviero has appeared with numerous groups in the US\, Europe and the Caribbean.
