Reservations are strongly encouraged\, so call  410-626-9796 today and book your table.  \nEnter Journos: a charismatic and compelling duo made up of award-winning journalist and lyricist Bryan Russo and workhorse punk-rocker Ryan Abbott\, whose musical range and bold message is as assertive as it is disruptive.  \nBryan Russo has spent close to 20 years working diligently as a singer/songwriter in the Mid-Atlantic region of the US sharing the stage with more than 30 national recording artists. Described to have the bluesy depth of a “young Tom Waits or Billy Joel” by Grammy Nominated producer David Ivory\, his previous independent releases received high praise from critics and listeners\, including Pennsyltucky (2018)\, which was named as a Top 5 finalist in the 2019 Great American Song Contest. Known for his biting lyrics\, Russo blends profound storytelling with a glint of satire and he isn’t afraid to let his raw and emotional vocals set the stage.  \nAbbott is perhaps most known for his surf punk trio The Phantom Limbs\, with which he wrote an EP trilogy followed by an LP entitled Get Wet with the Mothman. Powered by genre busting guitar riffs and lyrics anchored in horror movie imagery\, the band toured the country and made a splash in underground punk scenes. Later\, Abbott scored a hit with his acoustic trio The Dead Pens\, a group comprised of Abbott\, classical cellist Sally McGee and singer/pianist Danah Koch\, drawing attention and accolades from Relix Magazine and the College Radio Charts (#160). The Abbott penned song “Claire” found its way onto major Spotify and terrestrial radio playlists\, garnering global spins.  \nPlaying the role of the court jester whose job was to remind the monarchy of its inescapable mortality\, Journos’ clever witticisms coupled with their chaotic musical pulse produce a terrific collection of deep-thinking hard-drinking songs. A scathing editorial\, Journos’ debut full-length album In the Key of WTF is a sonic statement that neither buries the lead nor misses the point.

DESCRIPTION:Jim Patton & Sherry Brokus at 49 West November 25\nSeverna Park natives Jim Patton & Sherry Brokus\, now a folk rock duo residing in Austin TX\, will celebrate the release of their “Going the Distance” album at 49 West\, 49 West St. in Annapolis\, Friday\, November 25\, at 8 pm. Luke Chohany will join them on guitar and mandolin.\nPatton met Brokus at a bar in Arnold\, MD\, when she approached him on a break and asked if she could sing a song with his band. Despite strict rules against strangers sitting in\, Patton agreed she could sing Neil Young’s “Cowgirl in the Sand” with them. She and Patton have sung together ever since. They listened to a lot of Richard & Linda Thompson\, the Byrds\, the Airplane\, the Everly Brothers\, and Emmy Lou Harris singing with Bob Dylan when they started\, but from the beginning they developed their own style.\nPatton cites 20th century American fiction (“from Fitzgerald and Hemingway and Faulkner to Kerouac and Salinger and Raymond Chandler”) and the various lives of the friends he grew up (“I knew doctors and lawyers and waitresses and teachers and water rats and gravediggers and the guy who drove the truck that emptied the port-o-pots all over the state”) as the main source of his lyrical inspiration.\nMusically\, Patton says he learned to play acoustic guitar playing Bob Dylan and Neil Young songs\, and electric in a band playing Rolling Stones songs\, and “that was pretty much it for covers”

Timm brought in Dave Jacques (John Prine\, Emmy Lou Harris)\, Dave Roe (Johnny Cash\, Dwight Yoakam)\, and Warner Hodges (Jason and the Scorchers) on the project to record with Gantt Kushner\, Scott and Jen Smith (Naked Blue) and myself – what an amazing experience. Already Gone hit the streets with a bang in late 2009 and received critical acclaim from DJs and writers around the globe. It went to #2 on the Euro Americana Chart and #7 on the Freeform American Roots (FAR) Chart right out of the gate.\nIn 2012\, Under the Church was released and again Tony found himself on the EA and FAR Charts and the tongues and pens of critics around the globe. No cover\, just walk on in\, seat yourself. – we’re in the front room. \nJenn Byrne is the foundation of the group\, playing the upright bass\, and doing the Lion’s share of the singing. Jenn has an enigmatic and versitile voice\, which is capable of a wide variety of styles. In addition to The Befuddlers Jenn can be seen around town with her other group\, the Hypnotic Panties. She also has a band with her brother Jeremy\, and father Pete which is called Crosstown. \nLarry Byrne is a multi-instumentalist and singer\, and lays down the rhythm on acoustic guitar with The Befuddlers. Larry sits on the board of AMFM\, a charity organization for musicians based in Annapolis. He can be seen playing with many local groups at AMFM fundraisers. Larry also plays with the local funk group\, Higher Hands\, playing the keyboards and supplying left hand bass. He also loves to join the Hypnotic Panties whenever possible! \nPete Reichwein is the father of Jenn\, and the Dobro player in the group.
