Upon moving to Annapolis in 2019, Danny and Sarah quickly set to establishing Annapolis Bluegrass, which has become a haven for jamming, learning and performing. The group regularly hosts 40+ jammers once a month from September-May, as well as running bluegrass retreats (such as “For the Ladies: A Women’s Bluegrass Retreat”) and workshops (Jens Kruger, David Grier).
Join Danny and Sarah for an evening of banjo/fiddle duets, original music, and some of their favorite old tunes in Annapolis’s living room, 49 West Coffeehouse, Gallery, and Wine Bar.

Danny Stewart, Jr. has performed with many bluegrass legends, including Del McCoury, Bobby Osbourne, Rhonda Vincent, Larry Stephenson, Ricky Skaggs, Jesse McReynolds, Marty Rabon, and more. He is the bassist for Country Current, the United States Navy Band’s officially sanctioned Country and Bluegrass music group.
Danny is also the owner of Turtle Hill Banjo Company, a local business in Annapolis dedicated to providing excellent new and vintage banjos at affordable prices.
Sarah Larsen is a multi-faceted teacher & musician. Originally from Wisconsin, she grew up playing classical music with her pianist mother and sister. She can be spotted on stage with Geraldine (original old-time from Baltimore), the Black-Eyed Suzies (all-female MD Bluegrass), and frequently performs with members of Dean Crawford/Dunns River, the Dirty Grass Players, and more artists from Philly to Richmond.
Refusing to be defined by labels or genres, Sarah is equally at home in a jazz jam, a bluegrass pick, or an orchestral setting. She has spent over 30 years learning to communicate with musicians of all levels and styles, and has dedicated her life to helping others achieve satisfaction and joy through music.
