The Asher Herzog Band
Asher Herzog is an emerging drummer, composer, and improviser currently based in the Baltimore area. While he has studied with many through his young career, his biggest teacher has been the city of Baltimore itself. Influenced in high school by the community of improvisers in the immediate area, he developed a keen interest in the intersection of composed and improvised music.
This interest was nurtured during his time at Towson University, of which he is a recent graduate. In addition to freelancing around the greater Baltimore/D.C area, Herzog is involved with many ongoing projects such as Yugennui (Post/Math Rock), Fuss (Improvising Power-Quartet), Liberata (Jazz/Folk), and his sextet, Bowhunter.
Derek Wiegmann is an up and coming bassist living and working in Baltimore, MD. He graduated from Towson University with a Bachelor of Music Degree in Jazz/Commercial Performance in Spring 2017. Through the jazz residency program, he performed with artists such as Drew Gress, Jeff Lederer, Ralph Alessi, Ellery Eskelin, Tony Malaby Donny McCaslin, and Mary Halvorson. In addition to his freelance work, Derek performs with local bands such as the Tom Lagana Trio, Derrick Michaels Chamber Quartet, Bachelor Boys Band, Screaming Art Large Ensemble, Ephemera Quartet, Liberata and more.
Tim Houston is a guitarist currently residing in Baltimore, MD. He graduated from Towson University with a Bachelor of Music Degree in Jazz/Commercial Performance in Fall 2018. Through the jazz residency program, he performed with artists such as Tim Berne, Drew Gress, Kris Davis, and Ellery Eskelin. Tim performs with jazz, rock, and experimental groups such as Fuss, Yugennui, Headrest, Jouska, and Blake Ruby and the Homies
Chris Young is a woodwind player residing in the Baltimore/Washington D.C. area. He received his B.M. and M.A. in Jazz/Commercial Saxophone Performance from Towson University, where he studied under Jason Rigby, Dave Ballou, Frank Russo, Jim McFalls, Darryl Brenzel and Sara Nichols. Chris has performed along side internationally recognized musicians such as Matt Wilson, Ellery Eskelin, Mary Halvorson, Drew Gress, Carl Filipiak, and Levi Stephens. Aside from his freelance work, Chris performs locally with groups such as Telepathic Dog, Screaming Art Large Ensemble, Bachelor Boys Band, Stimulus Package and leads various groups under his own name.
