Presentation: Global Warming, a Wicked Wicked Problem” by Wilfred Candler, Ph.D., D.Sc, retired, active in Climate Stewards of Greater Annapolis. Formerly, Professor of Agricultural Economics at Purdue, and on staff of Operations Evaluation Department of the World Bank.

“A wicked problem is a problem that is difficult or impossible to solve because of incomplete, contradictory, and changing requirements that are often difficult to recognize.” No wonder progress is slow: • Only 18% of us are well informed and concerned • We have too many environmental organizations • Scientists are reluctant to pontificate on “policy” • Change is slow and we feel we can live with it • There is no reward for individual activism • Our leaders claim to be making progress; •Activists have not done the math; •Short-term problems take precedence.
