Cafe Scientifique
Annapolis Cafe Scientifique (Science Cafe) at 49 West Coffeehouse, Winebar and Gallery usually meets on the last Thursday of the month, January thru October, 6:00-7:15pm ET. Cafe Scientifique is a place where, for the price of a cup of coffee or a glass of wine, anyone can come to explore the latest ideas in science and technology. Café Sci. talks take place around the world in cafes, bars, restaurants and theatres, always outside a traditional academic context. All are welcome, these events are free, and we are happy to add anyone to the email list.

Talk Title: Trees and Climate Change in Maryland: An Amazing Story of Loss and Hope
Speaker: Mike Tidwell, Director, Chesapeake Climate Action Network
About the Talk: A leading climate activist describes how extreme weather is killing majestic trees in his Maryland neighborhood and yours. Mike Tidwell’s new book The Lost Trees of Willow Avenue is
a compelling update on the science of climate change in this region and beyond, from local molds killing tree roots underground to discussions of reflecting sunlight away from the planet throughgeoengineering.
About the Speaker: Mike Tidwell is director of the Chesapeake Climate Action Network and author of three books on global warming, including the recently published The Lost Trees of Willow Avenue (St. Martin’s Press). He has won numerous prizes for his writing and is a former National Endowment for the Arts fellow.
