First Friday’s Tom Mitchell & Friends

This month I am Beyond happy to be joined by my dear friends The Sam Farthing Trio. This is a show that you don’t want to miss if you love Django Reinhard and the legacy of virtuoso Jazz guitar players that followed in his footsteps.
These gentlemen are for me quite literally THE CATS ! on this side of the pond when it comes to playing in the style that we respectfully call Gypsy jazz .
There is so much to say about these guys and not really enough space. All three of them Sam Farthing (guitar), Sami Arefin (guitar) and Tomas Drgon (bass) live deeply in this music and they really bring it with them to the stage.
Me Ill be along for the ride and loving every minute of it.
Please Join us at my favorite venue for an evening of Gypsy Jazz and more. I’ll put some more info and videos in the chat .
Sam Farthing is a wonder , and he has been knocking me out since he was in his early teens . He plays with a passion and an ear always turned towards the beauty, joy and fire that is what brought me to love this music .
Here’s his rather understated bio
Twenty-one year old Sam Farthing is a skilled guitarist and songwriter from Baltimore, specializing in jazz manouche and gypsy music. At age ten Sam picked up the guitar and soon after started playing the music of his favorite guitarist, Django Reinhardt. With performances around the world at festivals like the Festival Django Reinhardt in France, Djangofest Northwest in Washington, Django sur Lennon in Ireland, Django a Gogo events around the USA, and the Charm City Django Jazz Fest at home in Baltimore, Sam has established himself as a notable figure in the genre. His commitment to musical authenticity and dedication to teaching have made him a respected mentor to many aspiring guitarists
