Stone Hill All Stars

Songwriter and guitarist Paul Margolis, accordionist/pianist (and St. John’s College alum) John Shock, and saxophone player/bassist Dan Naiman have been playing music together for a long, long time. Starting with Shock and Naiman’s band Two Legs, then The Polkats, and now The Stone Hill All-Stars, they have been at the helm of some of the best roots-rock bands in Baltimore. Their blend of styles lies somewhere between Ry Cooder and Los Lobos, with the Pogues thrown in for good measure. They’ve swashbuckled through dozens of traditional music styles, all the while retaining their distinct Baltimore flavor. The Stone Hill All-Stars – Margolis, Shock, and Naiman’s most recent band – is the quintessential Baltimore band, and Margolis is one of the city’s smartest songwriters.
