Our featured readers this month are Michael Gushue and CL Bledsoe.
Like the Crays, Abbott and Costello, Burke and Hare, and Siegfried and Roy, Gushue and Bledsoe — or Bledsoe and Gushue, as they are sometimes known – are a duo whose blinding synergistic energy plays like the prana of 10 ordinary mortal men. The Bulgarians have a word for it, but I forget what it is. By turns profound, salty, heartwarming, funny, enlightening, and downright terrifying, these guys will make your day. Unlike other duos such as the Captain and Tenille, Hjalmar Perlszig and Vitus Verdegast, or Frankenstein and The Wolfman, these guys will NOT leave you fighting for purchase in a rapidly-flooding underground lab full of gigantic, exploding steam-punk Victorian electrical machinery.
It will be MUCH more exciting than that. You will enjoy. Be there… (bring a helmet if you have one).
Michael Gushue is co-publisher—with Dan Vera—of the nanopress Poetry Mutual. His most recent book is I Never Promised You a Sea Monkey, a collaboration with CL Bledsoe. His other books are Pachinko Mouth (Plan B Press, 2013), Conrad (Souvenir Spoon Books, 2010), and Gathering Down Women (Pudding House Press, 2007).
CL Bledsoe, raised on a rice and catfish farm in eastern Arkansas, is the author of more than 20 books, including the poetry collections Riceland, Trashcans in Love, and his newest, Grief Bacon, as well as the Necro-Files novel series, and the flash fiction collection Ray’s Sea World. He’s been published in hundreds of journals, newspapers, and websites that you’ve probably never heard of. He also co-writes the humor blog How to Even, with Michael Gushue found at https://medium.com/@howtoeven. Bledsoe lives in northern Virginia with his daughter.
OPEN READ: Read 3 poems, or read for 5 minutes, whichever is briefer.
Read your own work, or work written by someone else. Fiction, non-fiction, play scripts, and screenplay excepts are also welcome.
