Come meet John O’Neill Sunday June 4th 5-7pm
Maryland born and bred, John is a graduate of the Maryland Institute College of Art, with post grad work at Trinity College and the Art Institute of Chicago. Throughout his professional career he has worked in the visual arts. His background includes advertising, graphic design, sign painting, murals and screen printing. Most of his career was spent as an art teacher. The last 20 years were spent at an Anne Arundel County High School, serving as Department Chair and A.P. art teacher.
Since his retirement, John has traveled to many of the Middle Atlantic states, Hawaii and Ireland. While he traveled, John has gathered reference photos. His camera is a tool that is like a sketchbook for future paintings.
While John works in a variety of media, his favorite is oils on canvas. For the past decade, landscapes of Maryland and neighboring states has held his interest.
He has exhibited in juried group shows at BWI Airport, Federal Courthouse in Greenbelt, Maryland, and the Maritime Museum in Annapolis, where he also had
a one man show. The past six years he exhibited at a local restaurant. John has illustrated a book which was recently released. “How to be a Hero” is a childern’s book encouraging exemplary behavior in everyday life, and has been well received.
