MARCH ART EXHIBITION
March 3 - 31, 2010 Rick Casali
>>View Image
Native to Annapolis, Rick Casali Jr. is dedicated to painting the visual truth and beauty in the world around him. After graduating from St. Mary's High School Annapolis in 2002, Rick attended the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore. From 2004 to 2007, he maintained a close apprenticeship with renowned portrait artists Cedric and Joanette Egeli at their estate in Edgewater, Maryland.
It was John Ebersberger whom introduced Rick to the Egelis, and Rick credits John for opening his eyes to color and developing a command of drawing the portrait and figure. Casali has also studied extensively with sculptor Steve Perkins, an expert in human construction and anatomy.
Rick teaches drawing, painting, and sculpture at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts and Anne Arundel Community College.
Rick spends most of his time working on commissioned portraits, painting the figure, and studying the outdoor still life. Each summer Rick paints in Provincetown, Massachusetts where he exhibits his work at Egeli Gallery.
Opening reception is Sunday, March 7th from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

Paul Geremia
8:00 PM - 11:00 PMFor almost forty years, Paul Geremia has survived solely by the fruit of his musical labours. Having abandoned all other means of support in 1966, he has been travelling far and wide ever since, performing in every capacity from street singing to club and concert bookings, throughout the U.S.A., Canada and Europe. In the years since, Geremia has built a reputation as a first rate bluesman, songwriter, a "scholar" of early jazz and blues, and one of the best country blues fingerpickers ever with his tools - six and twelve-string guitars, harmonica, piano and a husky soulful voice - and with an innate sense of the humour as well as the drama of the music, he keeps traditional blues fresh and alive with his performances. $10.00 Cover Charge Learn More

Big Joe Maher Trio w/ Robert Redd & Tommy Cecil
8:00 PM - 10:30 PMJoseph Maher a/k/a "Big Joe" Maher has been a performing drummer/singer over past 30 years. His list of credits is like a "who’s who of blues & jazz," having performed at an early age in his high school jazz band "The Starliners" with the likes of greats like Clark Terry, Urbie Green, Mudell Lowe, James Moody, just to name a few. Thanks to Col. Joe Carley, a retired Air Force Colonel and Director of the Starliners, who knew all of these great musicians and invited them to sit in as guest performers often. After high school Joe went immediately on the road with his own jazz trio. His mission then started to become an accomplished singer/drummer. Over time he shared the stage and backed up musicians like Jimmy Witherspoon, Bullmoose Jackson, James "Thunderbird" Davis, Nappy Brown, Otis Rush, Earl King and more. In the late 80’s after performing with and managing nine piece swing band "The Uptown Rhythm Kings," and after a few years as drummer and touring with the Tom Principato Band, Joe formed his own 5 piece blues jump group "Big Joe & The Dynaflows." In between touring and local performances with the Dynaflows, in the mid-90's Joe accepted the role as musical coordinator for Mick Fleetwood's club in Alexandria, VA "Fleetwoods." His knowledge of the local and national blues & jazz scene helped him land the position which had the club filled with top notch talent!
